Federal law limits who can buy most refrigerants. Here is what that means when you order from MOUCHLLC.
Why we ask for certification
Under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act and the EPA’s rules at 40 CFR Part 82, Subpart F, refrigerants used in stationary air conditioning and refrigeration equipment may only be sold to technicians certified under Section 608 (or to buyers who will resell to certified technicians). This covers HFC and HCFC refrigerants such as R-410A, R-454B, R-32, R-22, R-407C and R-404A.
Motor vehicle refrigerants such as R-134a and R-1234yf in containers larger than 2 pounds may only be sold to technicians certified under Section 609. Small cans of 2 pounds or less fitted with a self-sealing valve are generally available to do-it-yourself buyers.
What we need from you
When your cart contains a restricted product, checkout asks for:
- Your certification number
- The certification type (608 Type I, II, III or Universal, or Section 609)
- The name printed on the certification card
How verification works
We check every certification before an order ships. If we need a copy of your card, we will email you. If a certification cannot be verified, we cancel the order and refund it in full. We keep certification records as required by EPA rules.
Buying for a company
Contractors and businesses may enter the certification of the technician who will handle the refrigerant. Please make sure the name matches the card.
Not certified?
Tools, accessories and qualifying small automotive cans do not require certification. If you are not sure whether a product needs it, contact us before ordering.
